ROID RAGE

BLOG LIVE -

THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS HAS BEEN HARD FOR ME THINKING ABOUT THE "CRIPPLER". LOVED HIM LIKE A BROTHA. HE SEEMED TO ALWAYS BE HAVING FUN WITH HIS JOB. MY HEART GOES OUT TO BOTH FAMILIES.

IT’S TIME FOR CONGRESS TO PASS LAWS AGAINST THE USE OF STEROIDS IN ALL AMATEUR AND PRO SPORTS. THE IFBB, NPC, GOVERNOR OF CALIF, AMI AND WWE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

THERE ARE TOO MANY OTHER HEINOUS EXAMPLES LIKE BENOIT TO IGNORE THE ISSUE FOR THE SAKE OF BETTER ENTERTAINMENT AND $$$$. ANY MAN THAT BINDS HIS WIFE HANDS AND FEET HAS WIGGED ALL THE WAY OUT. NO DOUBT - ROID RAGE.
STEROIDS AND MIXING THEM WITH OTHER CHEMICALS ARE DANGEROUS BEYOND YOUR WILDEST IMAGINATION. STRANGLE HIS SON THEN TURN YOURSELF INTO A GHOST?
PEACE, ROBBY

MINDSET OF A CHAMPION

MINDSET -

THE DAY BEFORE MY NEXT TRAINING DAY I’VE ALREADY STARTED MY WORKOUT - WHAT EXERCISES AND PIECES OF EQUIPMENT I'LL USE, WHETHER IT'LL BE A LIGHT DAY OR HVY DAY AND A MENTAL PICTURE OF THE MUSCLE GROUP THAT WILL BE UNDER ATTACK. I’M ALREADY THERE. THAT’S WHAT A CHAMPION NEEDS TO DO TO ACHIEVE THE WINNER'S PRIZE. IT TAKES TIME TO REACH THAT LEVEL OF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF.

TRUE ART OF BODYBUILDING

Retiring in 2001, and now having training for 7 years without anabolic steroids, gives training a new meaning. Until you can do 20 reps with 1250 lbs. on a leg press machine and 10 x 10 dumbbell press with 90 lbs- and follow a strict eating regime as I still follow to this day - you’re not practicing the true art of bodybuilding. We are talking controlled repetitions; no bouncing or using momentum, but muscle reps that burn to the bone - because then you're just moving weights.

Nothing in a bottle can give you that feeling and the same results.
Peace, Robby

WHAT IT TAKES

My counsel to the want to be champions in training for competitions:
there are no short cuts.
Anyone who tells you differently is selling pure compromise.

HARD WORK DOESN'T COME IN A BOTTLE.

IF YOU DON'T WORK HARD, YOU CAN'T EXPECT TO HAVE HARD MUSCLES.
HARD, FOCUSED WORK IS THE ONLY STEROID YOU NEED. POINT BLANK.

You are what your dreams and visions are

Growing up I was always alone with my dog 5-cent, even though I had a large family. Being alone, reading, satisfied my soul and brought an inner peace that’s still with me to this day. Aloneness brings strength and depth to your being that empowers your imagination, will and mindset. You are what your dreams and visions are. If you think negative, everything around you will mirror your negative thought. Refocusing to thinking positively has been the key to my success. What you visualize will materialize. This is the essence of bodybuilding.

CHICKEN SQUASH

Table setting by scarf & hangings designer Arden of Body & Art.

Yellow squash with dark chicken chunks over steamed Jasmine rice.

Sauteed chunks of boneless chicken thigh in 1 tbs olive oil - Adding spike and a sliced garlic clove. After a couple of minutes add your choice of 1 or 2 green veggies - such as asparagus and green beans - diced yellow squash, and an organic tomato. I like the squash on the smaller size and all my vegetables fresh. Every few minutes I add a couple of tabs. of water to the saute to add moisture. This dish will make your taste buds sing for more!

part 7

A well-trained properly-supplemented mentally-conditioned physique is better prepared and will out-perform one that’s riddled with anabolic steroids

For this 8 wk countdown, I made sure that my off-season program was the platform that made this story a success.

A well-trained properly-supplemented mentally-conditioned physique is better prepared and will out-perform one that’s riddled with anabolic steroids.

As the weeks progressed I had more energy, physical endurance, and an upbeat attitude that beamed with excitement. The little changes used in the last week before the shoot were:

  • cutting flaxseed oil after each meal taking from 1 tbs. to 1 or 1 1/2 teaspoons,
  • eating leaner protein foods;
  • using fish for my last meal,
  • less egg yolks at breakfast and more fresh veggies after each additional meal.

Having entered this pre-contest countdown already in condition is what allows me to only need subtle manipulations. Trying to get in shape during the countdown has been the biggest mistake I’ve seen the competitor bodybuilder making. This approach is also what has lead bodybuilders more and more into the obscene use of anabolics and diuretics.

part 6-

As far as weights and exercises, I’ve always loved to challenge myself with heavy weight. That hasn’t changed over the years. So the weights during the countdown will not be that much heavier than what I normally use. Being in condition, I could start right off with my max weights. Basic exercises were my focus. After a couple weeks, I broke it down to where I combined cables and dumbbells with the basics. And during the last week, I took my body through drop sets and added a couple of machines to throw a different angle in the mix to enhance the muscle's shape and size. In each set I held the contraction a little longer, focused on the burn and cut down the time in-between sets to speed up the workout. Using different tactics like these is where the artistry comes in. Cardio remained fifteen minutes after my three workouts a week.

part 5

-- I went into my 8-week countdown excited; like I’m getting ready for my next competition. The timing was right. When you’ve practiced an optimal off-season eating and training program, the body responses to the slightest change, even the psychological one that takes place the first week merely starting the countdown- there was a water level changes in my body. Because of my many years of taking my body through the process, my physique responses to getting into muscular shape faster and with less stress than a body that does not know the route. My experiment started the 1st of February, and ended the beginning of April for a photo shoot on at Gold’s Venice with Kris Geffin. The photo below is the result.

part 4

I also worked to get 8 1/2 hours sleep a night, eating my meals or snacks on a time clock which comes out to be every 2 hrs, and using supplementation along with herbs. There’s also a female version of the Black Prince; Blonde, she’s 5’10 3/4’ tall with 160 lb. of quality hard-earned natural muscle. She had 15 years of training under her belt and seven years of following my eating and training plan, before entering this eight-week program. We are talking, serious bodybuilder - beautiful with a hardcore edge to her training mind set. Tuff! My kind of training partner. Watching this lady go through what she had to endure to get into this kind of shape, my hat’s off to her. Male or female there is no mercy in a set or rep. I don’t want to hear about how sore or tired you are. Focus on the work at hand, and give me an extra rep or two, then we‘ll talk. I’m someone who will tell you what it takes to get to the next level and dare you to plunge. I’m excited about my photo shoot at the end of the countdown with Arden of Body and Art and Kris Gethin publisher of Kaged Muscle Magazine.

part 3

Seven-year preparation. --------- Loving to eat healthy and train hard always paid off for me as a competitor. Except for the occasional meal out at one of my few trusty restaurants, during the seven years since retiring, I’ve basically eaten from the same menu I used while preparing for the first Master Olympia in ’94, just in more quantity. It’ll be the same selection I’ll use for my countdown, so my body will be more than familiar and comfortable with the selection. The staples in my unmeasured four-meal plan consists of eggs, steel cut oats, fresh bread, almond butter, quality chicken, fish, turkey, beef, fresh vegetables, potatoes, yams and fruit or nut snacks. Infrequent retreats would be pasta, oat bran pancakes with real maple syrup or a homemade carrot muffin. These obviously will not be a part of my countdown. Flax seed oil will be an important component in manipulating my calories during the countdown.
