Peary Rader (...What a bunch of misinformation/lies. Peary Rader (not Reader as you misspelled it) controlled nothing in bodybuilding. During the 1960s, Peary served as the Mid-Western Region Amateur Athletic Union (A.A.U.) Weightlifting Chair. That was before your time, you didn't compete in weightlifting, and it was not the "racist" south that you mention. Rader was a Nebraskan his whole life. Peary Rader was also a man with strong Christian values, but you paint him as some sort of hard core racist. You are so confused and misinformed that I believe you meant Bob Hoffman, who was involved with bodybuilding and weightlifting with the AAU. Hoffman was openly racist. I also remember travelling to Miami several times throughout the 1970s, and I never saw an of the things you claim regarding the treatment of black people. It was not official policy like you make it sound. You owe Peary Rader an apology for tarnishing his memory with your mistaken information.Dano S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01252702042461764736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3126871282434181820.post-69279701565952217132009-03-07T09:45:00.000-08:002009-03-07T09:45:00.000-08:00Robby,How old id your son now? It was amazing that some of the bodybuilders were able to survive the outright corruption, dishonesty, and criminality that existed in our sport. You had to play the game their way, or not at all. I saw many potential careers ruined. However, it did not matter in many cases whether you were gay, straight, black or otherwise-you just had to do it their way. I know it devastated my family financially. I never wanted my children to follow me in the sport. It has left many people bitter. Carlos Rodriguez, Dennis Stallard, Pete Miller and I founded the WPF, and had many Mr. Universe and America contest(s). The WPF still exists in Europe and Australia, but after Carlos died of Cancer, I just gave up. The sport now is all drugs, with competitors dying in their 30's. Our sport could be so good.<BR/>Stan MoreyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3126871282434181820.post-73245976685150625972009-03-06T14:15:00.000-08:002009-03-06T14:15:00.000-08:00Robby,All I can say is WOW!
