THE FOLLOWING COMMENTARY, BY DAVID JAFFARIAN:
Robby inspired me to take on the 90 day challenge.
My goal was to come in for my heavy week at the Master Class in my best shape ever.
I have no doubt that I met my goal.
For some background, my wife, Lorna and I attended a light week at the Master Class in the summer of 2009.
After spending a week with Robby, I felt driven to take my physique to another level.
Over the next 9 months, I was consistent with my training, eating and supplementation program. During this 9 month timeframe, I gained muscle and lost fat. I improved my physique a lot.
However, I decided I wanted to push it to the next level. At this point, I contacted Robby about the 90 Day Countdown program.
Robby told me point blank that since I had never put my body or mind through anything like this before so I would experience some discomfort.
He explained that I would be tearing down my body in order to build it up to a new level. Robby also advised me that I would build more muscle and lose additional body fat.
I was up for the challenge and started my 90 Day Countdown Plan on May 1, 2010.
Robby provided me with training, eating and supplementation plans during the 90 day process.
I was amazed how I took my intensity in the gym to another level due to having this type of goal. I trained like an animal.
If Robby said I needed to get 8 reps on a particular set of an exercise, I made sure I got it. I followed the eating and supplement plans exactly as outlined. I ate and supplemented on a timetable.
One huge key to keep yourself progressing is making adjustments in your eating and supplement plans.
I was amazed how some simple adjustments to my plan kept me in a a fat burning/muscle building mode.
One of the first adjustments we made was increasing my BCAA.
I found that by increasing them my energy would increase plus my physique would get harder and more muscular. I learned that the BCAA help saturate your amino acid pool.
About 4 weeks into the program, I thought I was going to gag on my egg whites. Keep in mind, I was eating 9 egg whites with my breakfast, 4 eggs whites with my portion of meat in my next 3 meals and 5 egg whites with my serving of meat with my last meal. That is a total of 26 egg whites per day for 4 weeks.
When I told Robby how they were getting tough to get down, he laughed as he could relate to my experience as he experienced that too. Robby advised me my amino acid pool was saturated and my body is telling me it is time for a change.
For the next few days, we added a couple of yolks to my breakfast and cut out the egg whites with my next 4 meals.
We also increased my beef consumption from one meal per day to three meals per day.
These simple changes helped my mind and body immensely plus I got the added benefit of seeing my body get harder and more muscular.
About 6 weeks into my plan, the framework of the diet changed again.
I was eating a little less protein with slightly more carbs and fats. I continued to shed fat and water plus build muscle.
After 8+ weeks of dieting I was finding it difficult to get down the Gerber Peas. That’s right, I was eating those little jars of baby food.
I realized that I had eaten more than 200 jars of those peas over a two month period. My substitution for the baby food was Robby’s split green peas soup.
Robby sent me his recipe and my wife cooked it to perfection. This soup is nourishing and tasty and was a welcomed change from the baby food. Once again my body and mind responded in a positive manner.
Another adjustment we made was adding fruit after nearly 8 weeks of dieting.
It was about 9pm when Robby told me to eat a bowl of strawberries, pineapple and apples.
We had no fruit in the house due to my diet, so I got in my car and went to the supermarket. I felt like I was in paradise when I sat down and ate my bowl of fruit.
The next morning, my body looked more etched, hard and defined. I spoke with Robby the day after my first bowl of fruit and he could hear the increase in energy in my voice. I felt incredible.
Toward the end of the 90 days, I was telling Robby I had zero cravings and I thought that bodybuilders were suppose to have cravings for junk food when dieting.
I mentioned that I wouldn’t mind having a couple of egg yolks. Robby told me to have them the next am with my breakfast.
I can’t emphasis enough how these minor changes can have a huge impact on your body and mind. These little adjustments keep you in the fat burning and muscle building mode.
During the last few weeks of my program, my goal was to flush the water out of my body and put in back in the muscle.
One thing we did to accomplish this was to eat 1/2 a cantaloupe instead of oats with my breakfast and eat the other 1/2 prior to noon on my non-training days
We also started to manipulate my intake of sea salt, potassium and water/distilled water.
I was amazed how these manipulations radically changed my physique.
I arrived at the Master Class on July 24, 2010 in great shape.
Robby and I had some great workouts that I will never forget.
There is nothing like bombing and blitzing with Robby.
I knew I was in great shape as my wife told me I looked great and she is not one to blow smoke. I also need to point out how supportive and helpful Lorna was during the process. There were moments when I felt like dog doo.
This program takes a strong mindset and a lot of discipline. Keep in mind that I was also working a 9 to 5 job during the 90 day count down challenge.
After completing this program, I feel like there is nothing I can’t do in any area of my life.
My mindset is stronger and I’m focused to put on more muscle. My physique continues to improve since returning from the Master Class over a month ago. I am more muscular and I continue to fill out in the right places.
Robby assured me how I won’t lose what I gained and how I’ll continue to improve.
The program was rewarding and a lot of fun.
Robby is an incredible teacher for whom I have the upmost respect for.
During the entire process his support was off the charts. We communicated multiple times per week by phone and e-mail.
The motivational messages on my voicemail were a huge help. I listened to these messages so many times that they became a part of my subconscious.
I’m excited about what the next year will bring. As Robby says, you can always get better.
