IT'S NOT OFTEN YOU GET TO WORK WITH A INDIVIDUAL THAT PUTS HIS ALL INTO HIS WORK.

I HAVE TO BELIEVE THE PHYSICAL DISCIPLINE STUDY THAT HELPED MOLD HIS APPROACH TO EVERYTHING IN HIS LIFE.

CHRISTOPHER IS THE ARTIST BEHIND MY NEW WEBSITE:

YOUR MASTERY IS APPRECIATED.
PEACE, ROBBY

CHRISTOPHER,
HOW OLD ARE YOU;
WHERE DO YOU CALL HOME?

28 years old at the moment, and I just moved into a new house in Upstate NY, specifically "Liverpool" (close to Syracuse).

DO YOU THINK YOUR MARTIAL ARTIST PRACTICE PLAYS A PART IN YOUR CREATIVITY AS A WEB-DESIGNER?

I wouldn't say it affects my creativity exactly, but the disciplinary aspects sure come in handy. Performing a creative job from a home office takes a great deal of self motivation, just like any form of physical training. If you don't push yourself to do it, it doesn't get done.

WHAT STYLE MARTIAL ARTS DO YOU STUDY AND HOW DID IT EVOLVE INTO YOUR STUNT WORK?

Ever since I discovered it as a teenager, my martial art of choice has been the Brazilian art form of Capoeira. I never really wanted to use martial arts skills to compete or to fight, but rather to maximize the potential of what can be done with this human body.

This also led to my acrobatic and gymnastics interests, all of which I started studying seriously when I moved to Los Angeles in 2003. It was then at Gymnastics Olympics that I met several stunt performers, and in turn made many new friends.

Stunt work, also a childhood interest of mine, was in reach, and I started going to various auditions. It was a while before I landed anything, but eventually went on to work in films, video games, and live performance.

YOU JUST MADE A MOVE EAST, BUT ONCE YOU GET SETTLED WHAT WILL YOUR WORKOUTS INVOLVE?

Honestly, right now the workouts consist of just "getting back in shape." I was out of it for quite a few months during the transition and house-shopping process, and am pretty rusty. I've done some jogging around the new neighborhood, and basic at-home workouts... but I also did a few back flips in the yard the other day, so I still got it. :)

HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN A WEB DESIGNER AND WHAT GOT YOU INVOLVED WITH IT AS A PROFESSION?

Web design was something I learned specifically so I could design a site for my music (www.mazedudemusic.com), and stayed just as a side hobby for several years.

I took on a few other basic web design jobs for friends, but didn't really pursue it as a serious career until January of 2007. Up until then I was just a jack of all trades in the multimedia world... but that all changed when I got married.

Once I had a wife to support, I rethought my priorities and decided to master one craft, rather then be just average at several. So I resigned from stunts (I was tired of the injuries anyways), moved my other media interests to the side, and took on web design as a full-time gig.

It was one of the best decisions I've made, and has led to a successful and fruitful career.

I WAS AMAZED AT RR WEB PAGE DESIGN. YOU HAVE TECHNICAL AND CREATIVE STRENGTH. WHAT ASPECTS OF THE WORK DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST?

You touched on it in the question actually - the aspect of the work I enjoy the most is that it is both creative AND technical. There are a lot of web guys out there who only do design OR programming, not both... and I thrive in the fact that I very consciously balance one out with the other.

It also makes the work enjoyable in the respect that I use different parts of the brain, and don't get too drained by only doing one part of the job.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO COMPLETE THE JOB SENSATIONAL ON THE RR SITE? WE GOT A TON OF COMPLIMENTS.

This particular job didn't take all that long actually, since it was a redesign of an existing site and all the content was already prepared. Once the sketch was approved, it was little over a week.

It always makes my job easier when I have all the content up front, which was the case here, so I was able to construct the individual pages pretty fast. It also helped that Robby and Arden let me do my job without too much nitpicking, which makes me generally happier while I plug away at things.

WHAT PROJECT IS NEXT FOR YOU?

Well I can't go into many specifics about new clients, but I am still putting the final polishes and finishing touches on two new fashion websites, gridlockdenim.com and luiantinous.com. If anyone out there is interested in some high quality handbags or kickass jeans, check those sites out.

MAKE SURE TO LEAVE A CONTACT SO PROSPECTIVE NEW CLIENTS CAN REACH YOU.

Well, it is a part of being self-employed that I always gotta book the next few jobs in advance, so by all means I'm open to people contacting me with questions, new projects, and so on. The best way to reach me is by e-mail at production@mazedude.com

Further contact info and write ups about how I work can be seen on my company website - www.mazedude.com - along with my extensive portfolio for your viewing pleasure.

Wow, what incredible athleticism, flexibility and core strength to do those types of stunts. Very cool to watch. Good interview and great job with the website.
