WHEN YOU WORK THE 7 MANDATORY POSES INTO YOUR WORKOUTS, YOU SEE THE TRUE ART OF BODYBUILDING COME ALIVE.
BASIC EXERCISES ARE ALWAYS A CHALLENGE FOR ME, WHETHER IT’S A LIGHT OR HEAVY DAY WORK WEEK. EITHER WAY THERE IS SOME
FEAR OF THE CHALLENGE.
TOMORROW STARTS MY LIGHT WEEK, MORE REPS WHERE MY GOAL IS TO WORK FOR THIS BURN DEEP IN THE CORE OF THE MUSCLE FIBERS.
I AM PUSHING AS MUCH BLOOD INTO THE WORKING MUSCLES AS I CAN. MY OBJECTIVE IS TO PUSH MYSELF BEYOND MY FEAR.

RR great words to think about,
How has ur diet changed from when u competed early in career and what u eat now??? do all ur meal contain a starchy carb or just the first 2-3.

J Olds

JEREMY/DR-C-I HAVE FUN WHEN I GO INTO MY WORKOUTS. MY EATING AND TRAINING HAS CHANGE VERY LITTLE. I WEIGH MY FOODS.I DO DUMBBELL, BARBELL AND CABLE WORKOUTS. I MIX THINGS UP A LOT. I KEEP MY QUALITY OF NUTRIENTS HIGH THROUGHOUT THE DAY. MY MEALS ARE ON A TIME CLOCK. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN THINGS GET SOME WHAT OFF CLOCK. BECAUSE OF BUSINESS, TRAVEL AND WORK-LOAD.RR
This is amazingly inspiring- both the picture and your words. Robby, you have a vast amount of knowledge, and I believe you thoroughly understand the intricacies of the human body as a performance machine and a piece of art. Thank you for these words of encouragement. I will think of this post at the gym tomorrow!
RR what do think of the methods Mike Mentzer used for BB nutrition using very low protein of 80-120 grams a day with 200-300 complex carbs and 30-40 grams of fat??? he promoted a diet ratio of 65% carb low protein, low to moderate fat

Jeremy, you seem overly concerned about macronutrient ratios, and carbs specifically. I used to be the same way, but trust me when I say that you need to listen to your body, and as long as you are eating clean carbs (sweet potatoes, rice, steel cut oats, and some fruit) and training hard (weights and some cardio), then you will be able to handle them fine. I am a young man in very great physical conditional. I can say that for the steroid/pro-hormone free, natural athlete, a high protein intake is an absolute necessity if you are looking to build dense muscle. However, it is true that carbs are protein sparing, so the higher your carbs go, the lower your protein can be. Experiment with yourself, just make sure to always keep the food super clean and healthy.
Robby, Yeah. Your midsection is looks rock solid. Not like the distended growth hormone guts you see on the guys in the muscle mags today.
NRH Thank you for the feedback it really helps, it gets confusing with BB one says low carb high fats the way to go, and then its high carb lowfat, and then too much protein an all kinds of other ways to eat, i am after adding lean muscle to my frame and feeling great with my foods and enjoying them, i get a little " gun shy " with carbs . everyone who comments on the blog is great people so thankful for RR and people like urself.
Thank you
J Olds
Mentzer would eat ice cream pre-contest.
You know I heard that Sergio Oliva had a real crap diet. Supposedly he would eat a whole pepperoni pizza and drink a liter of coke pre-contest,
Then again both of these guys had unbelievable genetics.
Sergio once said that it did not matter what he ate; it all turned to muscle.
SORRY THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS-IF THAT IS THE CASE, SERGIO, ARNOLD, FRANCO, AND ALL OF THE OTHER GREATS WOULD STILL HAVE THE PHYSIQUES THEY RETIRED WITH. I SEE THEM OFTEN, THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME SHAPE. IN A RECENT INTERVIEW, ARNOLD WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN TO HIS PHYSIQUE. YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD. AFTER RETIRING IN 2001 AT A BODY WEIGHT OF 22 0LBS, BUT AFTER EATING/WORKING OUT ONLY THREE TIMES A WK FOR A WHILE MY WEIGHT DROPPED TO 195 LBS. IT HAS TAKEN ME 12 YEARS TO REBUILD MY PHYSIQUE NATURALLY. A CALORIE IS NOT JUST A CALORIE. RR
