Way to go Stan. It is good to have honest discussions about things and be armed with legitimate facts. I always laugh when pro body-builders today deny that they use steroids to preserve their endorsement deals. I hope the book is a great success.

When I wrote this book in 1982, I was amzed by how little knowledge of these ergogenic aids was available. There seemed to be a glut of trash books. There is actually no such thing as an anabolic steroid, they are all androgenic to some degree. If monitored by a physician they are pretty safe, however because of the negative publicity this duty of monitoring was taken away from the physician and into unscrupulous people hoping to make alot of money. The media has also ruined many lives with their stupid and inane comments. You should learn all you can obtain on these items. One thing is that they will not make you superman like some of the media alludes.
I have to answer Dr. Casaccio when he says that many of these athletes lie about their use. In tha amounts that these people are using, they seem to be dying in their 30's. I wish we could put a stop to this rampant usage. I would not want to look like ANY of the current crop of bodybuilders. What happened to people like Zane, Robby, Baldwin that we could aspire to emulate. I would still like to look like Robby at any age.
Kudos to Robby for allowing this book on his site. There is just too much misinformation, misuse, and even death. We we want to go to a Physician that got his degree by reading the newspaper? That is crazy, but that is what is happening. I want us all to learn about these items which can be harmful if misused.
